Wondering where to eat in Dublin, Ireland? We recently spent a few days in Dublin, and have two great lunch/dinner places to recommend!
Do you like steak? Then, run, don’t walk, to Featherblade, a modern steakhouse located in central Dublin. This place is all about steak. When we went for lunch, only four entrees were listed on the menu – three of which were steak! The menu changes daily, but you can always count on the 9 oz. Featherblade steak, which my husband really enjoyed. The steak had a smoky, chipotle flavor, and was perfectly cooked. The meat just melted in your mouth. We also had the Charred Broccoli and Beef Dripping Chips as sides – both very good, but not as spectacular as the steak.
If you are looking for something “Irish,” you should try The Boxty House in Temple Bar. The focus here is on the humble potato, but in a surprising way. We tried the Boxty Tasting Slate as a starter. This plate featured potatoes three ways. First, it had “Boxty Dumplings,” which were a gnocchi with a chili dipping sauce. It also had Boxty Fries with a garlic dipping sauce. Last, it included “Toasty Boxty Loaf,” a toasted potato bread, topped with goat cheese. All very delicious. I loved the dumplings and had never thought of pairing gnocchi with a chili sauce.
For dinner, we both ordered the same entree: the famous Gaelic Boxty! This featured beef medallions in a whisky & mushroom cream sauce served wrapped in a Boxty pancake. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked. Even though topped with a cream sauce, the meal was light and airy because of the pancake.
My husband also tried the Jack Smyth Gold ale, brewed in-house. The ale was light, flavorful and refreshing – the perfect complement to the Boxty. Boxty House was a unique experience – not something you are going to find anywhere else. Highly recommended!
